Diana Gonçalves Tomás holds an MA in Migration, Inter-Ethnicity and Transnationalism (2012) from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a BA in Anthropology (2009) from ISCTE-IUL. Her MA dissertation focused on identity and citizenship practices of refugees and asylum seekers living in Portugal. 

Diana has been a researcher at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidade da Beira Interior and ICS. She has developed research on topics such as immigrant’s access to education and welfare, gender and media reception, and Portugal-Brasil migration and material culture.

Diana was an immigrant in the UK from 2015 to 2018, where she worked as an unskilled labourer in the care industry and lived through the before and aftermath of the Brexit referendum.
